Tale
Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that lands them lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law stars in Skeleton Crew; and more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neel's young siblings is the same Chewbacca family watch from the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special (1978).
Skeleton Crew is a TV series for kids
And that's a good thing, because Star Wars has often been kid-friendly, and why shouldn't there be Star Wars-themed shows for kids? But it's not an adult-friendly show about kids like Stranger Things or Paper Girls. It's more like a show that's specifically designed to appeal to ten-year-olds and nothing else.
The Skeleton Crew starts out in the suburbs
It's the suburbs of the Star Wars universe, but take away the robots and aliens, and this could be where I grew up. So it was an interesting twist for a moment or two. Unfortunately, these suburbs are populated by boring characters with uninteresting problems.
That's all I've watched
And yes, it's all for the big moment at the end of the first episode, but I was so bored with that first episode that halfway through I just started skipping ahead and even the last act was like, "Mhm. Will it get better when Jude Law shows up?" Maybe. But I feel like if the first episode of a series is so boring that I can't stand it, it's probably not going to get any better anytime soon.
